Mufulira Wanderers Football Club has reported that an armed robbery took place at their secretariat on Sunday, 15th February 2026, following their Week 20 fixture against Nchanga Rangers at Shinde Stadium.

According to a statement issued by the club, armed assailants held staff members at gunpoint and stole cash totaling K181,000, which had been collected from gate takings. The robbers also hijacked a Toyota Harrier, registration number AIF 4314, belonging to the club’s Logistics Manager, Patrick Mwanza. The vehicle was intended to transport the money to Mopani Security for safekeeping. Gunshots were reportedly fired to scare off bystanders before the suspects fled the scene.

The club indicated that police were alerted immediately and launched a manhunt. Later in the evening, the vehicle was abandoned by the suspects and recovered by authorities, but the robbers made off with the cash. The Zambia Police Service is said to be working diligently to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.

Mufulira Wanderers Football Club expressed deep regret over the incident and assured all stakeholders that it is cooperating fully with the police while implementing additional security measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

The statement was issued by George Katongo, Club President of Mufulira Wanderers Football Club.
