Augustine Mukoka Says Given Kalusa Could Have Changed Moses Sichone’s AFCON Story

Seasoned journalist Augustine Mukoka has expressed the view that young midfielder Given Kalusa could have significantly influenced Moses Sichone’s AFCON campaign had he been given more game time.

Mukoka noted that during the 15 minutes Kalusa featured against Morocco, the youngster showed impressive flashes of quality that, in his opinion, had the potential to reshape Sichone’s coaching journey in a positive way. He stated that it was unfortunate the coach opted to keep the FC MUZA starlet on the bench throughout the matches against Mali and Comoros, and only introduced him late in the decisive game against Morocco.

According to Mukoka, while Klings Kangwa has faithfully served the national team over the years, his performance at the tournament was among the least convincing. He emphasized that such observations were not made to demoralize the player, but in the interest of strengthening the team.

Mukoka further highlighted that Zambia clearly lacked midfield creativity, played excessive back passes, and failed to demonstrate any consistent threat in supplying the strikers. He suggested that Kalusa’s inclusion could have provided the spark the team desperately needed and might have helped Sichone leave AFCON with a better record.

In conclusion, Mukoka expressed regret over the missed opportunity, implying that the situation was ultimately self-inflicted.
