Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Keith Mweemba has revealed that some members of the Zambia Women’s National Team, the Copper Queens, boycotted training over allowances during the ongoing Four Nations Tournament in Malawi.

The Copper Queens are participating in a competition involving hosts Malawi and neighbouring Zimbabwe. However, according to Mweemba, almost the entire squad refused to train, with only six players reporting for the session.

Speaking during the National Football Indaba in Lusaka, Mweemba described the situation as unacceptable, stressing that indiscipline within the national teams will not be tolerated. He further noted that some players have been inciting their teammates, contributing to unrest in the camp. Those involved, he said, will be sidelined once investigations are concluded.

Following discussions between FAZ officials and the players, the team eventually returned to training. Zambia later held Malawi to a 1–1 draw on Sunday.

The National Football Indaba, organised by the Ministry of Sport, has attracted a wide range of football stakeholders, including Zambia National Team legends and senior administrators.
