The Copper Queens’ journey to the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2024 is officially underway, with head coach Nora Häuptle unveiling a strong 24-player squad that blends experience with youthful talent.
With the tournament set to run from 5 to 26 July 2025, the Zambian national team will begin their preparations with a local training camp starting Thursday, 19 June, before heading to Morocco for a 10-day international camp beginning 24 June 2025.
As excitement builds, foreign-based stars — including skipper Barbra Banda, Grace Chanda, Prisca Chilufya, and Racheal Kundananji — are expected to join the squad in Morocco after completing their club duties this weekend.
Zambia finds itself in Group A, facing a tough set of fixtures against hosts Morocco, Senegal, and DR Congo. The Copper Queens kick off their campaign on 5 July with a high-profile clash against Morocco at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat. They’ll then head to El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia for back-to-back group matches against Senegal on 9 July and DR Congo on 12 July.
