The Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) is thrilled to announce its inaugural annual awards ceremony, aiming to honor outstanding players, coaches, and contributors to the game across the region. Scheduled for April 19, 2024, the gala dinner will recognize the top performers of 2023 both on and off the pitch.

According to COSAFA president Artur de Almeida e Silva, the awards ceremony has long been envisioned as a means to spotlight individuals who positively impact football in the region. He emphasized the region's tradition of excellence and the importance of acknowledging achievements across various facets of the game, including players, coaches, referees, and administrators.

All players and coaches from COSAFA's 14 Member Associations are eligible for the awards, regardless of where they currently play or coach. The awards will span several categories, including Player of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Most Promising Player (for those aged 20 or under), Coach of the Year, and Referee of the Year, for both men's and women's football.

Additionally, Lifetime Achievement awards will be presented to individuals who have significantly contributed to football development in the region over many years. COSAFA's Member Associations encompass Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
