This significant sum comes as part of The FIFA World Cup Club Benefits Programme for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, marking Elite Ladies FC as one of the pioneering clubs in Zambia to benefit from FIFA funds.
The FIFA compensation, totaling K5 million, was distributed to Zambian clubs that played a role in the development and participation of players in the two years leading up to the tournament. Elite Ladies FC's receipt of K320,000 highlights the club's substantial contribution to player development and participation on the international stage.
The FIFA World Cup Club Benefits Programme is designed to acknowledge and reward clubs for their contributions to the success of FIFA tournaments. Compensation is provided to clubs that released players or contributed to their training in the lead-up to the World Cup. Elite Ladies FC's compensation reflects their dedication to nurturing talent and fostering a conducive environment for player development.
Notably, Elite Ladies FC received compensation for the participation of players Comfort Selemani and Xiomara Mapepa in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. Both players received USD 30,000 each, demonstrating the tangible benefits of the club's commitment to player development.
The club expressed gratitude to the Football Association of Zambia for their support and facilitation of player development initiatives.
