The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President, Keith Mweemba, has moved to reassure the Chipolopolo ahead of their crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier against Morocco on Monday in Ndola.
Mweemba, accompanied by his deputy Mutale Ng’andu and General Secretary Machacha Shepande, visited the national team camp in Ndola to address both the players and technical staff. The FAZ chief acknowledged the outstanding allowances owed from previous fixtures but assured the squad that payments would begin before they step onto the pitch against Morocco.
“We have come here to meet you and ensure that we address some of your concerns. The idea is to make sure that by the time you walk onto the field on Monday you will have clearer heads with no worries,” said Mweemba.
He further emphasized that FAZ had been engaging stakeholders to resolve the association’s debt situation, noting that significant progress had already been made in liquidating arrears.
In his message, the FAZ boss also urged players to put patriotism first.
“It is very important that you also do your part as we also do these things for you. I urge you to be patriotic; you have to play for the badge. You don’t get rich by playing for the national team—your full-time job is at your club,” he said.
Despite Morocco already sealing the Group E automatic qualification slot with 18 points, Mweemba reminded the Chipolopolo of the importance of fighting for one of the four best second-placed positions available for CAF play-off slots.

Captain Lubambo Musonda expressed gratitude on behalf of the squad, thanking the FAZ leadership for addressing the team’s concerns.
“We want to thank the president and his delegation for coming here to address our concerns. We are grateful for the issue of the allowances and thank you for the money we will receive by Monday,” Musonda said.
The Chipolopolo host Morocco on Monday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, with kickoff set for 15h00.
