FAZ, NORA HÄUPTLE MUTUALLY PART WAYS

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced that it has mutually parted ways with Copper Queens head coach Nora Häuptle, bringing an end to the Swiss tactician’s tenure with the senior women’s national team.

In a statement released on 19 September 2026, FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya said the decision was reached following discussions between the association and Häuptle’s representatives.

Chakatazya explained that both parties agreed that separation was in their mutual interest and would allow each side to move forward.

FAZ thanked Häuptle for her contribution to Zambian football and wished her well in her future endeavours.

Following Häuptle’s departure, assistant coach Charles Haalubono has been appointed to take charge of the Copper Queens on an interim basis.

Chakatazya said the decision to hand Haalubono temporary responsibility was necessitated by the team’s upcoming assignments over the next few weeks. He added that FAZ would announce its long-term plans for the Copper Queens technical bench in due course.

Häuptle was appointed Copper Queens head coach on 24 January 2025, signing a three-year contract with FAZ.

Her departure comes as Zambia prepares for upcoming international assignments, with Haalubono now tasked with guiding the team during the transition period.
