FAZ Orders Clubs to Pay Over K1 Million in Compensation to Players and Coaches

20.09.2025 | Football DNA ⚽️

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Player Status Committee has ruled in favor of several players and coaches whose contracts were unlawfully terminated, ordering multiple clubs to pay outstanding dues amounting to over K1 million. The verdict was issued on September 17, 2025, following formal complaints lodged by the affected individuals.

Nkana FC Hit with Heavy Penalty

Nkana Football Club has been directed to pay over K500,000 to three former players—Mangani Banda, Gift Zulu, and Shadreck Musonda—after being found guilty of breaching contractual agreements.

Banda and Musonda will receive a combined K400,000.

Zulu is set to be compensated with K155,000.

Chambeshi FC Ordered to Pay Coach and Player

Chambeshi Football Club has also been sanctioned. The club must pay:

K73,000 to former head coach Enerst Mwelwa.

K96,000 to ex-player Harrison Kaonga.

Both were dismissed unlawfully.

Kitwe United Faces Similar Consequences

Kitwe United has been found in breach of contracts involving two players:

Haveston Ching’ambu will receive K127,000.

Oswald Simpamba is owed K98,000.

Indeni FC’s Obligation

Indeni Football Club has been ordered to pay Isah Kazembe more than K66,000, which covers gratuity, signing-on fees, and accrued interest.

FAWUZ Welcomes the Rulings

The Footballers and Allied Workers Union of Zambia (FAWUZ), which represented the affected parties, welcomed the committee’s verdict. FAWUZ General Secretary Joe Kaunda praised the swift resolution of disputes, stressing that such efficiency would help clear the backlog of pending claims by players and coaches.

“These rulings not only ensure justice for the affected players and coaches but also send a clear message to clubs about the importance of honoring contracts,” Kaunda stated.
