The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has confirmed two high-profile international friendlies for the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup-bound Copper Princesses.
FAZ General Secretary, Machacha Shepande, announced that the Zambian side will face Cameroon and Colombia in Morocco as part of their final preparations for the global showpiece.
The team departs for Morocco tomorrow (Saturday) where they will set up a 14-day pre-tournament camp aimed at sharpening their competitive edge.
“We are happy to announce that FAZ has organized high-level friendly matches for the Under-17 Women National Team as part of ensuring that the girls are well prepared for the tournament,” Shepande said.
The Copper Princesses will take on Cameroon on 9 October, before locking horns with Colombia on 14 October. Both encounters will be played behind closed doors to allow the technical benches of the respective teams to fine-tune their tactics.
Group Stage Fixtures
Zambia, drawn in Group F, will base in Morocco ahead of their campaign and face:
Paraguay – 19 October at Football Academy Mohammed VI (Pitch 3), Sale
Japan – 22 October at the same venue
New Zealand – 25 October at Football Academy Mohammed VI (Pitch 2)
The top two teams in each group will progress to the knockout stages.
Consistent Progress
This marks Zambia’s third FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualification after appearances in 2014, 2024, and now 2025, underlining the country’s steady growth in women’s football.
With competitive friendlies against Cameroon and Colombia lined up, the Copper Princesses will be hoping to translate their preparations into a strong performance on the world stage.
