Kalusha Bwalya to Contest FAZ Presidency in 2025

Zambian football legend and celebrated 2012 Africa Cup of Nations-winning Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president, Kalusha Bwalya, has officially announced his candidacy for the FAZ presidency in the upcoming elections scheduled for March 29, 2025.
The 1988 African Footballer of the Year has confirmed that he has also informed the Confederation of African Football (CAF) about his decision to run for the top football leadership position in Zambia. This move marks a significant development in the country’s football landscape, given Kalusha’s illustrious career both as a player and an administrator.
In an interview, Kalusha stated that his decision to return to FAZ leadership stems from widespread calls from the football fraternity urging him to contest. He emphasized that his campaign is centered on two critical pillars: uniting the football community and elevating the game in Zambia to greater heights.
“I’m definitely in the running. Zambian football must prosper and unite,” Kalusha affirmed.
The former Chipolopolo captain is expected to hold a press briefing in Lusaka in the coming weeks. However, for now, he is attending to family commitments in Europe during the festive season.

FAZ has already announced that the Elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on March 29, 2025, setting the stage for what promises to be a pivotal moment in the history of Zambian football.
