FAZ President Andrew Kamanga has officially been cleared by the FIFA Review Committee to participate in the upcoming FIFA Council elections, set to take place on March 12, 2025, in Cairo.

In a letter addressed to Kamanga, CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba confirmed that FIFA had declared him eligible after successfully meeting all the necessary requirements. The letter stated: “CAF is pleased to inform you that you have been declared eligible to be a candidate for elections to the FIFA Council at the 14th CAF Extraordinary General Assembly, Cairo, 12 March 2025.”

The March 12 election will see Africa select six representatives to the FIFA Council, one of which is reserved for a female candidate. Kamanga will be among 11 contenders vying for the five male-designated seats on the council.

The FIFA eligibility test, as outlined in the FIFA Statutes, is a critical step for any individual aspiring to participate in these prestigious elections. Passing this test underscores Kamanga’s readiness and commitment to contribute to football governance at the global level.

Kamanga’s candidacy reflects his growing influence in football administration, and the outcome of the elections will mark a significant milestone for Zambia’s representation in international football.
