Orlando Pride Strengthens Attack with Prisca Chilufya Signing

Orlando Pride has confirmed the acquisition of forward Prisca Chilufya from Liga MX Feminil side FC Juarez. The club revealed that the Zambian international has signed a three-year contract, keeping her with the team through the 2027 season. The transfer fee remains undisclosed.


Haley Carter, Orlando Pride’s VP of Soccer Operations and Sporting Director, expressed excitement about the signing, stating that the club was thrilled to welcome Chilufya. Carter described the forward as a dynamic player with exceptional ability, speed, and a strong goal-scoring record. She noted that Chilufya’s experience in international competitions with Zambia, along with her success in Liga MX Feminil, demonstrated the level of talent the Pride aimed to bring to the team. According to Carter, Chilufya’s three-year commitment aligned with the club’s long-term vision, and the staff was eager for fans to see her in action.


Chilufya, in turn, shared her enthusiasm about joining Orlando Pride, saying that she felt honored to be part of a club with a strong vision and commitment to excellence in women’s soccer. She mentioned that playing in the NWSL, one of the most competitive leagues in the world, was an exciting opportunity. The forward also highlighted her eagerness to contribute to the team’s success and to learn from both her new teammates and the coaching staff.

Before moving to Orlando, Chilufya made a significant impact at FC Juarez, where she scored 14 goals in 48 appearances since joining in 2023. During the current season, she had already netted four times, including a standout performance against Pumas, which earned her the player of the match honor.


Her career has seen her play in various leagues across the world. Before her time in Liga MX Feminil, she had a brief stint with Fatih Karagumruk in Turkey’s second division, where she scored four goals in seven matches. Prior to that, she played in Kazakhstan for Tomris Turan, where she registered an impressive 18 goals in 14 appearances, including two matches in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. She had previously featured in the Champions League with BIIK Kazygurt, scoring her first goal in the competition during the 2021-22 season.


On the international stage, Chilufya has been a regular for the Zambian national team since her participation in the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. She also competed in the qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympics and played in all three of Zambia’s matches at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Additionally, she was an alternate for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and recently took part in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

With her proven track record, Orlando Pride believes Chilufya will be a valuable addition to their squad, bringing both immediate impact and long-term potential to the team. Fans will be eager to see her take the field and contribute to the club’s ambitions.
