The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced the appointment of veteran administrator Machacha Shepande as its new general secretary. The decision followed a meeting of the FAZ Executive Committee, which resolved to make the appointment as part of ongoing leadership changes within the association.

Shepande replaces Reuben Kamanga, who stepped down on mutual terms after serving for two years. FAZ also confirmed a mutual separation with deputy general secretary, John Msimuko.

FAZ president Keith Mweemba said the executive was confident in Shepande’s vast experience and ability to take the FAZ secretariat to greater heights. He noted that Shepande had previously held the same position under the Evaristo Kasunga administration and had dedicated over 30 years to football administration.

Mweemba further expressed gratitude to Kamanga and Msimuko for their contributions, wishing them success in their future endeavours. He encouraged them to keep their doors open to serve the game in other capacities.

Shepande’s career includes serving as Head of Sport at the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa for over a decade, in addition to holding the role of general secretary at the National Sports Council of Zambia. He holds a BA in Education and a Master’s degree in Sociology and Development Studies.

The announcement was made by FAZ Communications Manager, Sydney Mungala, on behalf of the association.
