SICHONE ANNOUNCES FASHION SAKALA AS NEW CHIPOLOPOLO CAPTAIN

Chipolopolo head coach Moses Sichone has announced changes to the team’s leadership structure, appointing Fashion Sakala as the new captain of the national team.

Under the new captaincy hierarchy, Lubambo Musonda has been named first assistant captain, followed by Kings Kangwa as second assistant, Frankie Musonda as third assistant, and Benson Sakala as fourth assistant captain.

The changes were announced on Monday ahead of the team’s training session at the Pinatar Sports Arena in Murcia, Spain, where the Chipolopolo Boys are in camp preparing for the upcoming AFCON tournament.

Coach Sichone expressed gratitude to Lubambo Musonda for his leadership during his tenure as captain and emphasized that the adjustments were made in the best interests of the team.

“Lubambo is still one of the captains; we just felt it was necessary to make a few changes at that level. I urge everyone to support the new team leadership,” said Sichone.

Musonda welcomed the decision and called on his teammates to rally behind the new leadership group.

“As the coach has said, I urge you to support the new guy, Fashion Sakala, and the rest of the players announced. Take their instructions seriously and obey them, as they are messengers of the technical bench,” Musonda said.

Meanwhile, Sakala expressed humility and gratitude upon being handed the captain’s armband. He thanked Musonda for his leadership and pledged to serve the team and the nation with dedication.

“I am honoured to be considered for the role of captain of the Chipolopolo. This comes with a huge responsibility, not only to the team but to the nation at large. I thank God for this opportunity and I am grateful to my coach and my teammates,” Sakala said.
