The Zambia U20 Women’s National Team is on the brink of history. With their eyes firmly set on a maiden FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualification, the young Copper Queens are drawing strength from the success of their sisters — the U17s and the senior Copper Queens.

Head coach Charity Nthala says the team is ready to rise to the occasion in Saturday’s decisive clash against Burundi at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

“We are working extremely hard to qualify this time around. The senior team has done it, the U17s have qualified back-to-back — and that inspires us to give even more,” Nthala said with conviction.

But the task won’t be easy. Burundi showed strength in the first leg, especially on the flanks and with their physical approach. Still, Nthala believes her team is ready to adapt and overcome.

“We won’t underestimate them, but our focus is on finishing the job here at home,” she emphasized.

Team captain Zangose Zulu was equally confident, rallying her teammates to stay focused.

“We’ve already moved past the first-leg win. Now it’s all about getting another victory and keeping our dream alive,” she declared.

Victory over two legs will push Zambia to the next stage, where Uganda awaits. For these rising stars, this is more than just a football match — it’s about proving that Zambia’s women’s football story is still being written, one milestone at a time.
