As the Copper Queens gear up for the upcoming FIFA international friendlies against Botswana and South Africa, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Keith Mweemba has challenged the team to set their sights firmly on victory at the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2025.

Addressing the team at Edwin Imboela Stadium, where preparations are underway, Mweemba's rallying cry centered around discipline, purpose, and unity.

“We trust you, we want you to work very hard because there is enough talent here,” he told the players. “You have the full support of the FA President.”

Acknowledging the financial challenges the players may have faced in the past, Mweemba assured them that any outstanding dues would be addressed. But he was also quick to clarify that passion, not pay, should be the team's primary motivation.

“Money should not be the driving force,” he emphasized. “I want passion, grit, fight, mental strength and character.”

The FAZ President stressed the importance of maintaining discipline both on and off the pitch. He spoke strongly about the need for proper nutrition and adherence to the team’s code of conduct, warning that breaking rules would carry consequences.

“Let us play as a unit. We are a team here. Together, everyone achieves more,” he said. “We can only get results if we love each other, are united, and respect the authorities. Above all, trust God.”

Mweemba also reaffirmed the executive’s unwavering support, but he urged the Copper Queens to match that commitment with pride and honor for the Zambian badge.

“Winning begins right now. Qualifying is good, but it’s not enough if you don’t win trophies,” he said. “We need silverware, don’t we?”

As Zambia continues to make its mark on the women’s football scene, the message from the top is clear: WAFCON 2025 is not just about participating—it’s about conquering.

The Copper Queens will test their mettle against Botswana on 31 May and South Africa on 3 June, as they build toward what promises to be a defining tournament in Morocco.
