The Zambian Premier League has strongly condemned the acts of violence that occurred at Nkoloma Stadium following the league fixture between Red Arrows and Power Dynamos.
In a statement issued after the incident, the League stated that football is a unifying sport that brings communities together and emphasized that there is absolutely no place for violence, hooliganism, or any form of misconduct before, during, or after matches. The League described the behaviour witnessed as deeply regrettable and contrary to the values of respect, integrity, and fair play that it upholds.
The League further announced that it had instituted a full investigation into the matter in collaboration with relevant authorities and match officials. It stated that individuals found responsible would face disciplinary action in accordance with the League’s Rules and Regulations.
Speaking after the incident, ZPL Chief Executive Officer Joseph Chimpampwe condemned the violence, describing what happened at Nkoloma Stadium as extremely disappointing and unacceptable. He stated that the Zambian Premier League remains committed to ensuring that its stadia are safe spaces for players, officials, and supporters. He added that the League would not tolerate acts of violence and that firm action would be taken against those found culpable. He also urged fans to support their teams passionately but responsibly.
The League once again called on all supporters to uphold the spirit of the game and to conduct themselves in a manner that protects the integrity of Zambian football.
