Zanaco Football Club has confirmed the appointment of Numba Mumamba as the head coach for the senior men’s team, with Noel Mwandila joining as his assistant. The two coaches, both formerly with Kabwe Warriors, have signed two-and-a-half-year contracts alongside David Chilufya, who will also serve as an assistant coach.

At a press briefing held at Sunset Stadium, Zanaco FC CEO Modest Hamalabbi reportedly stated that the changes to the technical bench were necessary after the team’s struggles during the first half of the season. Hamalabbi expressed optimism, saying the appointments of Mumamba and Mwandila marked a pivotal moment for the club's growth and success. He added that the management believed the new coaching team would add significant value and help turn the team's fortunes around.

Mumamba, a former Zanaco player and coach, reportedly shared his excitement about returning to the club, describing it as a homecoming. He acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in his ability to address them. He emphasized the need to strengthen the team’s defense, which he identified as a key area of concern, while noting the team had been performing well offensively.

Numba, a celebrated coach, previously led Zanaco to the Premier League title in 2016 and has won the league four times—twice as a head coach with Zanaco and Zesco United and twice as an assistant coach. His accolades also include two Charity Shield trophies and one ABSA/Barclays Cup.

Mumamba’s first game in charge will be against Forest Rangers in Ndola this Saturday, marking the beginning of his efforts to guide Zanaco FC back to winning ways.
