The Copper Queens will take part in the FIFA Series 2026™, joining elite women’s national teams from across the globe in a major international competition scheduled for the March and April FIFA windows.
Zambia has been selected in the women’s category of the expanded tournament and will face hosts Brazil, Canada, and Korea Republic in Group play. The fixtures will be staged in Brazil, offering the Copper Queens valuable high-level competition against some of the world’s strongest women’s teams.
The FIFA Series 2026 will feature 48 national teams drawn from all six FIFA confederations, competing in 12 groups of four teams. This marks a significant expansion of the initiative, which was officially announced in November 2025, and represents nearly 25 percent of FIFA’s 211 Member Associations.
In an official statement, FIFA confirmed that 11 Member Associations will host the series, with Rwanda hosting two groups, bringing the total number of groups to 12. The competition will comprise nine men’s groups and three women’s groups, reinforcing FIFA’s commitment to global representation and development.
The women’s matches will take place in Brazil, Côte d’Ivoire, and Thailand, while the men’s competitions will be hosted in Australia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Rwanda, and Uzbekistan.
All FIFA Series 2026 matches will be broadcast globally, ensuring international exposure for participating teams and greater access for football fans worldwide.
FIFA highlighted that the Series is designed to bring together national teams with a wide range of competitive profiles. On the women’s side, the tournament includes teams ranked as high as Brazil (7th) in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings and as low as Turks and Caicos Islands (194th), reflecting FIFA’s development-driven approach to international football.
The initiative also extends beyond on-field competition. Hosting and participating nations benefit from experience in event delivery, operational planning, referee development, and competition organisation, closely mirroring the demands of major international tournaments.
The FIFA Series 2026 aligns with FIFA’s Strategic Objectives for the Global Game 2023–2027, offering meaningful cross-confederation competition without increasing the international match calendar, while promoting technical, organisational, and global football development.
