Zambian international Gamphani Lungu has been voted Orlando Pirates Player of the Month for August following an impressive start to life with the Soweto Giants.
Lungu featured in six matches during the opening month of the 2026/27 season, accumulating 392 minutes and quickly establishing himself as an influential figure in the Pirates attack.
The Zambian contributed three goals and one assist, meaning he was directly involved in four goals. He also created eight chances across competitions as Pirates enjoyed an unbeaten start to their league campaign and secured a place in the MTN8 final.
Fans give Lungu overwhelming backing
Lungu comfortably topped the supporters' poll after receiving 3,377 of the 6,750 votes cast, almost half of the total.
Defender Lebone Seema finished second with 1,405 votes, while Oswin Appollis came third with 848. Goalkeeper Sipho Chaine received 481 votes, followed by Thapelo Mokobodi with 421 and Tshepang Moremi with 218.
The result underlines Lungu's immediate impact at the club, with the Zambian wasting little time in winning over the Buccaneers faithful.
