Hibernian Sign Zambia's Miguel Chaiwa from Young Boys

Hibernian FC have announced the signing of Zambia international midfielder Miguel Chaiwa from Swiss side Young Boys. The 21-year-old has agreed to a three-year deal with the Scottish club, with an undisclosed fee paid to the Swiss outfit.
Chaiwa, known for his strong presence in midfield, will add depth to Hibs' squad, aligning with manager David Gray's intention to bolster their defensive midfield options. The young talent made 31 appearances for Young Boys' first team, gaining valuable experience, including playing in the UEFA Champions League. Notably, he featured as a substitute in a match against Celtic last season, adding to his reputation on the European stage.
The Zambian midfielder was part of the Young Boys squad that clinched both the Swiss Super League title and the Swiss Cup in the 2022/23 season, showcasing his ability in high-stakes competitions.
David Gray expressed his excitement about the signing, stating, “We’re pleased to bring Miguel to the club; he adds strength to our midfield options. He’s a young, athletic player with a lot of potential. We’re excited to help him develop further.”
Sporting director Malky Mackay also shared his thoughts on the signing, saying, “Miguel is a player we’ve been watching for some time. There has been significant interest in him across Europe, so we’re thrilled he’s chosen Hibs as the next step in his career. He’s a talented young player with a bright future, and I’m looking forward to seeing him develop here.”
