Chipolopolo Soccer Fans Association Chairman, Yotham Mwanza, has called for the immediate resignation of Zambia national team coach Avram Grant, saying his performance has failed to meet the nation’s expectations.
Mwanza said Zambians have grown frustrated with the team’s results under Grant, adding that if the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is hesitant to terminate his contract due to financial implications, fans are ready to contribute K10 each to facilitate his payout.
“If FAZ is afraid to relieve him of his duties due to contractual obligations, every Zambian can contribute K10 each so that Grant can be paid off his dues,” said Mwanza.
He emphasized that it is time to bring in a local technical bench, arguing that Zambian coaches are capable of producing better results if given the opportunity.
Meanwhile, Mwanza described the government’s decision to suspend funding to FAZ following the team’s poor performance as emotional and counterproductive. He warned that the move could hurt not just the senior men’s team but also women’s football and grassroots development programs.
While acknowledging the national team’s inconsistent performance, Mwanza urged for dialogue and constructive engagement between stakeholders to find lasting solutions that would uplift the standard of Zambian football.

I totally understand the frustration around Grant’s performance — it’s been tough watching the team struggle when we all know there’s so much local talent that deserves a chance. During these disappointing runs, I sometimes distract myself by checking stats and matches more closely, and that got me into following live odds and football predictions on https://1win-zambia.net/ — a site about sports betting and online casino in Zambia. It actually keeps the excitement alive even when Chipolopolo aren’t delivering on the pitch.
