The Zambia national football team is set for a historic international friendly against world champions Argentina national football team in Buenos Aires.
According to a statement released by the Football Association of Zambia, the high-profile match will be played at the iconic La Bombonera on March 31, 2026.
Acting FAZ General Secretary Iva Lengwe said the fixture presents a major opportunity for Zambia to test itself against one of the best teams in world football. He noted that the match reflects the growing respect that Zambian football continues to earn on the global stage.
FAZ has confirmed that the squad traveling to Argentina will be led by head coach George Lwandamina, while another team largely composed of local players and promising young talents will travel to Botswana for the Four Nations Tournament. The Botswana-bound team will be coached by Osward Mutapa.
Lengwe explained that the Four Nations Tournament in Francistown will serve as an important preparation platform for Zambia’s Olympic squad, which will feature both local and foreign-based players.
He added that both teams will be selected based on performances during the ongoing national team training camp in Lusaka.
The squad heading to Botswana is expected to depart on March 25, while the team traveling to Argentina is tentatively scheduled to leave for Buenos Aires on March 27, 2026.
