Copper Queens Invited to CFA Yongchuan Tournament in China

The Zambia Women’s National Team, popularly known as the Copper Queens, has received an invitation to participate in the CFA Yongchuan Four-Nation Women’s Football Invitational Tournament in China.

The Copper Queens will compete against the hosts China (Ranked 17th in the world, 4th in Asia), the Philippines (Ranked 41st, 7th in Asia), and Thailand (Ranked 45th, 9th in Asia). This high-profile tournament will serve as crucial preparation ahead of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2024, scheduled for 5-26 July 2025.

Busy Schedule for the Copper Queens

Coach Nora Häuptle’s side is set for an intense few months as they fine-tune their squad for WAFCON:

✅ International friendlies vs Malawi’s Scorchers

✅ Six-Nation Invitational Tournament (May 2025)

✅ Final pre-WAFCON training camp

Zambia, considered one of Africa’s most improved women’s teams, is in Group A at WAFCON alongside hosts Morocco, Senegal, and DR Congo. With their recent progress, the Copper Queens will be looking to make a deep run in the tournament.
