In a recent turn of events, the planned Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has been postponed indefinitely due to a sustained court order issued by High Court Judge Greenwell Malumani.
The injunction, filed by two non-members Damiano Mutale and journalist Mabvuto Phiri, remains in place despite FAZ's application to discharge it being thrown out by Judge Malumani. The court has adjourned the matter to the next week, with an interparte hearing scheduled for Thursday, May 2, to hear arguments from both sides.
FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga has assured members and stakeholders that the association will communicate the next steps. However, it remains uncertain if there will be immediate consequences from FIFA, which directed FAZ to proceed with the AGM as per constitutional requirements.
FIFA has given FAZ until April 30 to provide full information before making a decision on the Zambian crisis. Despite the setback, Kamanga urges members to remain calm and assures them of ongoing communication throughout the process.
