Chipolopolo head coach Moses Sichone has named a 30-member local squad as Zambia begins its preparations for the Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The selected players will report for camp this weekend as the technical bench kick-starts the first phase of training.
This local camp forms part of a broader preparation plan, with the team expected to shift into an international pre-tournament camp in the coming weeks.
The 30 players are drawn from the previously submitted 55-man provisional squad required by CAF. This larger list gives all participating national teams flexibility to make replacements in the event of injuries or unforeseen circumstances. CAF has set December 11 as the deadline for final squad submissions, with teams allowed to register either 23 or 28 players. However, associations that choose to carry the full 28 will cover the additional costs as outlined in CAF’s competition guidelines.
FAZ has also arranged a series of international friendly matches to ensure Chipolopolo has adequate match fitness heading into the continental showpiece.
Zambia has been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Mali, and Comoros. The 2025 AFCON will run from December 21 to January 18.
