Zambia U17 Women’s National Team coach Carol Kanyemba has assured fans that the team is fully prepared to secure victory in Saturday’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second-round, second-leg qualifier against Tanzania at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Focused and Determined
Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Friday, Kanyemba emphasized that while the team carries a 3-0 advantage from the first leg in Dar es Salaam, they are not taking anything for granted.
“The first leg win gives us an advantage, but the job is not finished. We have another 90 minutes to play, and we have told our girls not to be complacent because anything can happen in football. We are reminding them to stay focused and continue from where they left off,” she said.
With the nation rallying behind them, Kanyemba reaffirmed the team’s commitment to delivering a strong performance.
“We need this more than anything. Everyone has been backing us, and we are not ready to disappoint our fans and the people who have supported us. There are high expectations for this team and this game. The girls understand what is at stake, and they have promised to work hard and produce a positive result to proceed to the next round.”
Captain Chipasula Calls for Maximum Support
Team captain Mercy Chipasula expressed excitement about playing in front of home supporters at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. She urged her teammates to remain focused and called on fans to turn up in large numbers.
“We played well in Tanzania after a tough first half, but that game is behind us. This is a new challenge, and we must approach it with the same hunger and discipline. We are calling on our fans to come out in numbers and support us because their presence gives us extra motivation,” said the Kamfinsa Blue Eagles midfielder.
One Step Closer to the World Cup Dream
A win on Saturday will see Zambia progress to the third round of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, where they will face the winners of the Benin vs. DR Congo tie.
Fans can grab their tickets from as low as K20 at all Shoprite stores countrywide via Computicket. Let’s fill Levy Mwanawasa Stadium and cheer the Copper Princesses to victory!
